Environmental & Safety Manager - Now Hiring



PURPOSE OF THE JOB



The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Leader is a critical member of the Natural Leadership Team (NLT) providing guidance and coaching in the areas of safety and environmental stewardship to all plant members. The EHS Leader must maintain a leadership presence on the plant floor, positively influence employees, and engage them in all aspects of safety and environmental processes.



This position leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of critical safety and environmental processes, programs, and procedures to achieve a zero-injury environment. The successful candidate provides leadership and applies technical abilities to engage employees at all levels of the organization to sustain world-class safety and environmental processes.



Span of control:
Two hourly direct reports.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Live the Safety stand, adhere to safety, health and environmental responsibilities:


  • Adhere to, and continuously improve upon, all plant, business unit and Enterprise safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permits.
  • Ensure proper environmental, health, and safety training, awareness, and communications to all employees.
  • Provide guidance, support, and change leadership for environmental / regulatory, health, and safety objectives.
  • Serve as the technical advisor for environmental, regulatory, health, safety and sustainability management systems.
  • Analyze and design programs to address / improve the facility environmental, regulatory, health, and safety impacts.
  • Lead, coach, and solicit input from team members to drive successful execution of facility and team goals and enhanced team member engagement / job satisfaction.
  • Facilitate / coordinate training, as needed
  • Manage all plant safety and environmental metrics


Leading and executing Safety &a; Environmental in the plant


  • Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive towards an injury free culture
  • Lead and support environmental initiatives and processes to drive towards zero NOVs/ENCs
  • Maintain a leadership presence on the plant floor, influence employee and leadership behaviors, and fully engage employees in the safety process
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of all critical EHS processes, programs, and procedures
  • Recognize employee accomplishments and contributions


Oversee compliance with governmental regulations and corporate programs


  • Ensure regulatory compliance of all environmental permits and processes
  • Foster positive relationships with government agencies and work as a partner to improve plant performance
  • Create, maintain, and oversee the compliance calendar for all regulatory requirements
  • Effectively, address enforcement actions from local, state, or federal agencies
  • Provide expert technical support in identifying, and resolving, critical regulatory issues
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and programs
  • Maintain the corporate management systems
  • Address deficiencies identified in internal audits
  • Continuously elevates the customer perspective of self and others by knowing our products, manufacturing, and selling processes. The E&a;S Lead applies this knowledge to successfully influence other leaders to make the best business decisions


JOB REQUIREMENTS


MINIMUM
Qualifications:


  • 5 years EHS leadership in an industrial environment or graduate of the Owens Corning EHS Leadership Program
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental, science or similar


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE


  • 6 years of progressive manufacturing safety experience
  • Professional certification as Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Experience with Colorado (CDPHE) environmental regulations


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &a; ABILITIES


  • Strong creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to initiate action and lead team activities.
  • Strong listening and comprehension skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations such as SPCC, CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, CWA, CAA, EPCRA, SARA
  • Experience in working with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies (Adams County, City of Denver, EPA, OSHA, CDPHE) and representing the company in a professional manner.


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT


The employee must possess the ability to:


  • Work extended/flexible hours
  • Sit / stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Utilize computer equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Climb exterior/interior ladders at lengths exceeding 40 feet.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs without assistance
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
  • Able to climb tanks to read gauges
  • Routinely ascend and descend stairs and forklift to enter work areas
  • Schedule flexibility as needed to accommodate operation needs
  • Travel, as needed.

The base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $120,000, with the potential for up to an additional 15% if the applicant hired has additional related qualifications.
